She's due to head back out to sea again soon for further trials. The date is still being kept under wraps although there was a thought that she was going to slip her moorings yesterday.

At the moment info seems to be "later in the week" with the usual non-commital, possible excuse for other logistical issues, caveat of tide/weather etc. Having said that it's been calm and sunny so far this week.

So possibly tomorrow, rumours are for Friday. But perhaps neither.

She can't just slip out, as they have to suspend movements into and out of the harbour, including suspending the use of the small boat channel.

Keep an eye on the QHM website.

Nothing scheduled for tomorrow.

Oh, there won't be any sneaking around for her in this neighbourhood, no. But it will be a much quieter affair this time. No bunting, no flags, no hordes of well wishers, no speeches. Of course, the need for a clear route through the entrance remains, along with the tugs and Police vessels motoring around and the helicopters buzzing about. It will be the increased air traffic that will be the most noticeable at first to anyone not staring out of the window.

I'm not sure I'd pay much attention to the notifications on the website as that will most likely be updated as late as possible - if at all, as once it's published alterations can be (and are) made to the schedule without updating the site.

[HMSQE] "...will sail from Portsmouth when we can ensure a safe exit. A number of factors will determine when we sail, including the weather conditions in Portsmouth. We plan to sail later this week when we can ensure a safe exit."

High tide for Friday is approx 05:30 and then 16:30. Friday is forecast to be bright sunshine again with minimal (10mph) wind. However, half term is still in full swing down here too and it's fair to say her presence has boosted tourism/day tripper numbers.

I reckon she's getting ready to leave this afternoon. There's a few helicopters buzzing up and down the harbour entrance and Warrior Cam shows a puff of black smoke drifting off to the right of Semaphore Tower.

Talking to myself a bit here but - she's spun around and is now facing downhill ready for The Solent. The police launches are more visible than usual during daylight hours and a couple of the large tugs have headed upstream.

That would surprise me as it's pretty much bang on low tide then. Unless that's part of the trials - testing the harbour dredging as well as the ship?
Mind you, the QHM site had her leaving a few days ago on Tuesday, until it didn't! laugh

I shall keep gazing out of the window pretending to be busy. Stand by for further non-event updates as they don't happen... biggrin

From all here at the Russian Embassy, thank you British chums for the regular updates. We have dismissed Ivan our man in Portsmouth as he is no longer needed.
