Wonder when we’ll see both carriers together
Didn’t it happen back in April up in Scotland?

Just look down a couple of threads. I already bumped it up for this reason.

I'm not too far from Portsmouth.

Can people advise: can the public just pop along and see HMS Qe and PoW without too much bother? Or would it be best to wait for particular occasions?

I have obviously missed the arrival at Portsmouth today, so is it worth a bit of sight seeing tomorrow?

Cheers

You can get fairly close but only with an obstructed view. It’s easier to see it from the Gosport side from somewhere like the Victualler pub albeit from a fair distance: http://thevictualler.co.uk/

Or if you pop to the historic dockyard you can jump on a dockyard boat tour to see it.

Its quite easy to see PoW form the Gosport side - the promenade next to the ferry has some of the better views. QEC is a bit harder to see at the moment as she's somewhere off the east coast of the USA.

I thought if it's worth doing, it's worth doing properly, so here's the view from the Dockyard tour boat. (I appreciate this is the HMS QE thread, but HMS PoW is in her spot so technically it counts)

Thread should probably be renamed to QE class carriers.

Sorry if this has already been covered, but I read yesterday that PoW actually weighs several thousand tonnes more than QE. Anyone know why this might be?

I’ve heard it does weigh more. My understanding is that QE is basically a prototype being 1st in class any noticeable problems are then amended on PoW as it’s build was a year or 2 behind.

Happy to be corrected though.

Are there two berths there that can take a carrier ?

As you say POW is in QE’s berth ?

( I’m a long way from P/mouth )

There are not berths allocated to an individual ship. PWLS is on that jetty and QNLZ will take it on return.
