I used to work for the bloke that had Wally B built and owned it for a couple of years

Let's just say he was living outside his means.

This (or its absolute twin) was moored in the bay of Ville Franch Sur-Mer when I was over there for the Monaco GP.

Didn't want to like, but lick

That 'Helm' ??? WTF...... USS Enterprise more like !
We built that 14 years ago!!! http://www.pendennis.com/custom-yachts/custom-port...

She now has another new owner and I think looks better with the one colour paint job.

It was the 1st Superyacht I had seen / aware of, and now I feel old!

Went around Wally B in Antigua in 99/00, in English Harbour. I have some photos somewhere showing us moored next to her in an old Whitbread 60. Lovely thing, alot of people were surprised that she had got across the pond!

He (SF) claimed that the boat yard that built gave him an under written price if he wanted to sell it which he took them up on ? Not sure anyone believed him. I didn't go on it but a couple of mates did. IIRC it was the largest Wally that had been built at the time...useful for your St Tropez bragging rights!

Wow, I certainly wasnt party to info like that back then as I was still on the periphery, but knowing Pendennis, that never would have happened. Maybe the Wally team offered something, as that is their style (as long as you build bigger).
She was the largest untill we built Kenora which was fundamentally the same hull. SF is still a yacht owner and is active on the regatta scene.

Pendennis is a great place to work, there are about 340 employees and the same people who bought it off Peter de Savary 21 years ago still actively run it today!

Good for him. If ever there was a man that enjoys life it's him. He's not affraid of spending money to enjoy himself! He used to have a ridiculous car habit too.
