Flew to Dubai and back last month via the top deck on an Emirates A380. Definitely a very pleasant experience. smile

Sadly due to Covid I’ve missed out on 8 flights on the A380 top deck this year and I totally agree with you, it’s great way to fly yes

Sounds a little like sour grapes to me,

The A380 is simply too big for the market it serves. Boeing placed a bet the other way and won (kind of)

Very interesting, thanks for posting it.

The 787 fuel savings were definitely a big factor combined with the worse than expected A380 fuel consumption,
lack of freight capability and the hub vs spoke not going the way of the hub etc.

I think he kind of concedes that as the interview goes on tbh.

Another end of an era.

I wonder if in the next 20-30 years we will go full circle again.

It was quite a small engine but it was noisy. But even the 1s and 2s were noisy, without the 162.

For anyone interested, today’s EK003 into Heathrow from Dubai is using the last A380 ever made.

Flying Emirates A380 Dubai-Heathrow-Dubai in January, top deck and booked using miles. This will be my first time flying top deck on a A380.

Birmigham-Dubai-Birmingham (aslo in January) will be 777 though (much prefer the A380).
