Blasted them out of the water in that race.

To a none sailor the boats looked very even.

Based on the first day’s racing it’s going to be a close run thing.

Indeed. Great for any neutrals. Hopefully it will go all the way down to the wire.

To me it looks like LR are more match ready, and the Kiwi’s are a little quicker in a straight line.

The racing comes fast and furious from Friday onwards, so things look well balanced for some exciting encounters.

When the kiwis showed significantly higher boat speed than LR, the gap between them stayed the same, so maybe LR with its bigger foils points higher?

So far it is all about the pre-start. Has an AC75 in any race ever started last and gone on to win? Barring falling off foils or capsizing.

No, but we were close. Messed up a turn, but were closing in the last leg.

I'm quietly confident.

Wow if they are right and 3 days of this weather Prada have got an advantage over thee NZ boat for sure. The pressure to get the start advantage is huge. Prada is tacking so smoothly and it seems to can point higher into the wind than NZ. Very interesting tussle of a match.

Edit ops now Prada makes a bad gybe, so much rest on not making a single mistake.

Today was all about what side of the start line you had.

Keeps going like this and it could go down to who wins in the last day. How great would that be.

Sunday looks similar again but wind picking up on Monday could shake it up a bit.

For all the kerfuffle about how fast these boats are it turns out that the winner is going to be the one that can go slowest without falling off the foils. It's a bit sad really.

And has the better start. If I was a betting man, I'd put Te Rehutai to go 2 up today.

Eta: Except it's cancelled due to lack of wind.

TBH bit disappointed so far with this. You can watch the minute leading up to the pre start, the pre start manoeuvring, the start itself, and the first minute after and that's it.

Seems daft that there is no provision in the rules aiui for the folis to be changed mid series, or even more frequently. So for example if you make a call at the measure to go for smaller foils, and the weather goes light and doesn't fit that call over the series, you're screwed. Likewise if going for bigger foils and it's windy. This is basically what screwed Ineos.

Imo there should be a limited number of foil designs approved at the measure, and providing you are using one of the approved designs that's OK.

Other opinions on this also perfectly valid.

That would seem like a far too logical and helpful idea.
I would suggest that the fact it hasn't been adopted is to provide for a 'you make your bed and lie in it' scenario at the beginning of the series.
The racing was cancelled today because the rules state there has to be a minimum of 6.5knts of wind constant.

I cant imagine that swapping foils is a “plug and play” activity.

I would think perhaps a boat out, and a day of graft, so not suited to back-to-back race days with two races per day.

It is a pity because the racing is more spectacular when they are close and on the upper edge of their performance envelope.
