It won't be taken to Hereford it will go to the training ground at Pontrilas Army Training Centre (PATA) on the Abergavenny road where the training wing is based.. The main base moved from PATA (Stirling Lines) many years ago and is now in the old RAF base just outside Hereford.
Having read several news articles, some are saying this is going to a scrap yard, so possibly not SAS related at all!onyx39 said:

Apologies if a whoosh is in order but isn't it unlikely to media would report it was going to the SAS? Why on earth transport a fuselage in large sections to a scrapyard? Wouldn't it be easier and cheaper to break it up and not transport it whole?
Considering they have a facility at Hereford and possibly a real 747 located elsewhere in the country they wouldn't need another one. If you look at the pictures it's quite clear it would need a lot of work to get it back to an aircraft setup. Which is why it will be better as an art project: http://www.gloucestershireecho.co.uk/Boeing-747-tr...

Well it shouldnt be too much of a problem finding it in its new home. Although the article is unclear if it is then moving to Staffordshire, or the students coming to itTango13 said:
My step nephew got to be a hostage for a day a while back, the SAS were the terrorists and the police had to try to negotiate with them. The SAS ran the poor police ragged, loads of stress and changing the rules so the BiB didn't know if they were coming or going
A Step Nephew!!!! I've never ever heard anyone mention such a thing in my life and I'm old a feck. HmmmDaily Mail said it was a project for Art students. I'm going with their explaination, after all the DM is a bastion of truth and unbiased opinion. Good pics though.

So if the plane is going to Staffordshire why is it stopping on route in Herefordshire? Come to think about it bearing in mind Kemble is north of the M4 as is Herefordshire why did they go on the M4 at all?
Anyone know where they are now? Someone here must of seen them!
No, but I believe the exercise is being repeated tomorrow.Anyone know where they are now? Someone here must of seen them!

I would imagine Cirencester and Birdlip are the reasons they used the M4. Going south to the M4 is a lot easier than going north to the M5 via Ciren and Birdlip.Gassing Station | Boats, Planes & Trains | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
