Indeed, the pub had been renamed as The Lightening while it was still trading. Sadly it was never much of a pub,
True..... having spent many an hour in the Nuffield Arms supping a pint or two with my Grandad back in the late 70's and early 80's. He had worked in Vanguards building back when it was still Vandervell's. Was his last job before retirement.Restoration is now complete, it will be travelling to Bristol on Tuesday morning next week via M25/M4 for delivery to the construction site. Assembly and rigging dates still to be fixed and likewise opening date for the new building with XP745 on display, which is expected to be June or July.

Awesome.
Is there a picture from the front.
These pictures were taken when we did the assembly in June. The building will open for business on Monday and I will post a few more pictures next week. Is there a picture from the front.
The address is Vanguard Self Storage, 22 Church Road, Bristol, BS5 9JA, anyone who fancies popping in at any time in the future for a natter and or to take pictures they would be very welcome.
Keepitstiff... I love the vanguard a40 aviation display. I emailed you guys once about 8 years back when I was working around the corner to day thank you for brightening up my commute to work when you changed the display aircraft. You mentioned then you had a lightning stashed away. Awesome to see she is now proudly on display!!
Here is a photo of XP745 when she was officially accepted as the gate guardian at RAF Boulmer in 1977. I am the second on the right, the tall cadet in a white belt. Our squadron cleaned and maintained the Lightning for several years until it was disposed of...
I still have a belt of 4 dummy rounds I 'liberated' from the gun pack that came with the airframe when delivered...
