FAO Farnborough Spotters

No reds at all this year according to their just released show dates. Sad.
Plus the heath area at the west end of the airfield has 10' high security fence permanetly installed now. So gone are the days of sitting their and having all 9 reds stay low after take off to come over your heads at about 100'.

Farnborough airshow announced 2 hours ago that they will be attending:Plus the heath area at the west end of the airfield has 10' high security fence permanetly installed now. So gone are the days of sitting their and having all 9 reds stay low after take off to come over your heads at about 100'.
The @rafredarrows will be returning to #FIA18 this July! Their flypast is to be part of our legendary five-hour flying display & they will be on the ground meeting the public and helping us celebrate the RAF100. We're excited about an action-packed show #lovefarnborough

If that's true, I find it very disappointing.

Southbound over Farnborough a couple of minutes ago - a Merlin-engined Spitfire.
Heard before it was seen, I was indoors upstairs and ran to my landing window. As luck would have it, the best window from which to see it. Quite low, heading away in a straight line, I couldn't see enough detail to even guess at a Mark though, as the sun was behind it.
No sign of it on Flightradar either. Sounded lovely though...

Thanks for that. I'd not actually seen that site before. And 139°? "Southbound" wasn't a bad guess. I did look for flight history data, but it didn't show me a map trace so I've no idea where it took off, and where it was heading, but Goodwood wouldn't be a bad guess for the destination of a Boultbee Academy Spitfire...Just had SIX!!! Apache helicopters right over the house, heading SW following the M3 toward Odiham (or perhaps onward via the A303 to Wallop?)
A pair first, swiftly (or at least as swiftly as an Apache goes ) follwed by an 'awesome foursome'.
Sadly not able to fetch a camera in time (or at all really) as I'm laid up with a broken leg and swift movement around the house is not really an option...

RAF100 practice. Yesterday there was 3/4 pumas and 6 chinooks in formation.
Sorry if this sounds a bit flippant, but WTF? AAC aircraft needed to bolster numbers at the RAF100 parade? What next? Re-animating the Balloon Companies of Her Majesty's Royal Engineers? SF Cody's bamboo kites? And 100 years? Pfffft! It was 'Sapper300' a couple of years ago. And they invented military aviation.
Who's your daddy?
