The internet suggests someone may be messing around with an ads-b transmitter....

Indirectly I believe. It was spotted with a Mk 1 eyeball, and they then uploaded the photo to Flickr and other people correlated it with the aircraft flying over at that time - seems it was using an unusual ID.

This video popped up on my you tube feed today... nothing special... what did catch my eye is some of the background, "taxis" around 0:20. That's a lot of $$$ parked up there!

The 737s with red along the window line have an interesting story. Knew it was Vegas as soon as I saw them!

There was something that flew over this morning that was very very noisy. It woke me up. It sounded like a helicopter but way louder and more rumbley. Not a chinook I don’t think, as those have a very distinctive sound. Hemel Hempstead somewhere between 5-7am. Any ideas?

Probably an Osprey. They have a very distinctive sound: half plane / half helicopter and louder than both. As you would expect I guess. I saw one a couple of days ago.

That seems to fit the bill having a look on YouTube. What a racket.

There's a Beluga (F-GSTB) just now just over Cardiff and headed to Chester. Would love to see one of these in the flesh!

So what’s this up to? The aircraft belongs to a company that offers, among other things, aerial surveillance..... but what’s it surveilling over Hampshire & Sussex at midnight on a Thursday night?!

(Edited to correct my geography)

And another one from the same company over Somerset/ Brizzle....

If you can't be arsed with the link, then basically they do LIDAR scanning of the terrain to create 3D maps for the environment agency. This helps with flood plain management, and it's done at night because that's when airspace is at it's quietest.

Odd one from earlier. I was tracking the landing of my wifes flight into Marrakech, but it stopped showing on FR just after they passed through 15k feet. When I checked the other flights, they all stop tracking at similar distances, from all directions.

Also, the airport has no aircraft showing at all.

Could they be blocking the tracking somehow?

More likely no ads-b receivers. Same happens if you fly near Carlisle low level.

Low plane near Edinburgh airport (sounded like a small propeller) but very low. I was in work.

Jumped onto FR appears it was a Piper maybe - GHAMR oddly however looked like Flybe was preparing to land but went past the runway but cant find it now - BEE041D.

Don't use FR that much so may well be my usage skills!

I live pretty near Hawarden Airport, and normally the Beluga passes behind our house, but the other morning I was just about to get in the car when it flew directly up our street, banking over pretty far - awesome sight!

Very strange flight path of the Qatar Amiri Flight over England and Wales. It seemed to fly into the South East, do a big loop over England and then loop around Wales then back over the UK and out via the South East again without landing?
