Sometimes, whilst up feeding the little one I hear a helicopter go low overhead, but it never shows on Flight Radar, or ADS-B either.
Do they not show up if they're that low? We are in Deepcut, near Sandhurst/Pirbright military areas so maybe it's military?
Quite probably one (or more) of Odiham's Chinook fleet.Do they not show up if they're that low? We are in Deepcut, near Sandhurst/Pirbright military areas so maybe it's military?
They follow the M3 south, and fly right over my house quite frequently. And I mean directly over the house - I can stand on the drive and look up between my house and next door, and this hoofing great machine appears briefly, fills the sky, then clatters away again.
Recently we had a Wildcat over, also heading south, and regularly see Apache helicopters singly or in small formations tootling back and forth along the motorway route. They don't fly that high either. Sometimes the Chinooks seem to rattle the bleedin' windows!
As much as it can be irritating sometimes when you're watching TV and can't hear the dialogue, I'm planning to move away soon and I'm sure I'll miss them when I've gone...

That was my first thought, but when I was down in Norfolk chatting to a guy who was going onto then base for an interview, he said they didn't have transmitters fitted to be picked up on adsb, I presumed he was saying that they would not be fitted. They do sometimes pop up on the trackers

Been a crazy day for wind, 787 almost face planted at LHR and a (I think) A380 pinging 7700 and diverted to MAN.
