Had the sound of a Merlin past my 'home office' window about half an hour ago, and looked out to see a 'Yellow nosed Bast**d" flying past laugh .....one of Air Leasing's Hispano Bouhon's that came from the Connie Edwards fleet a few years ago - a check onADS-B showed it departed Duxford, and was heading to Goodwood, where it landed a short while ago.

The Airship is heading along the South Coast at the moment. I just saw it heading along the front at Hayling Island. It should be over Portsmouth imminently.

Just a bit of history for anyone unaware of the non-tyre related link between the Goodyear (not a) Blimp and motoring. The connection is to ZF as ZF or Zahnrad Fabrik (literally Gear Factory) was a company setup to make a new type of gear box for the original Zeppelins, using a new gear meshing invention from Switzerland (I think, doing this from memory).

Of course Zeppelin had a rather controversial history and faded to almost nothing commercially whereas ZF grew and grew to the automotive giant it is now.

Both Zeppelin and ZF are based at Friedrichshafen, the town council controlling the Zeppelin Foundation which owns 94% of ZF and the airship company, and is about as far south you can go in Germany before getting your feet wet in Lake Constance.

We live around twenty miles from Biggin hill and are underneath the flightpath for incoming flights. This morning a small Cessna jet came over, so I followed the flight path back to Sion airport in Switzerland. I then had a look at Google earth, to find out what different kinds of aircraft were on the deck. I then spotted this unmistakeable classic from the past. What a lovely aircraft.

I've taxied by it at Zurich a couple of times. So elegant compared to all the modern private jets which are usually on the apron there.

I would imagine its the Bristow airsea rescue based at Caernavon. They are BIG and make a hell of a lot noise.

It was. Flew along the North Wales coast doing a couple of circles, then south across Warrington, Winsford to Oulton Park.
