Judging by the proximity (less than 50ft in altitude difference in one of them) the Hercs are being refuelled mid-air now!

What would this be?

Originated from just outside Hillingdon.... 40000 feet. Blocked.

How are the icons used for the aircraft assigned to a flight?

I've often seen something displaying as a passenger jet when it's actually a light aircraft.

What is quite cool is that the SAAB deltawing have a deltawing icon.

Shame this wasn't actually one of them.

They turned back before decent so does not look like a major issue with loss of power or anything but was well under the glide slope by the looks of it around 1000ft when should have been more like 1500 if not 2000.

This happened this afternoon:

I couldn't work out if it was genuine emergency or just some low flying as the altitude was going up and down between 1200 and about 700 feet. Either that or my phone signal was rubbish.

Have to say since FR changed the alerts recently they seem to have stopped reporting the squawk code 7500/7600/7700 and just say "General Emergency" and the tracking seems to have become a bit flakey.

Maltese airline. Flying from Malaga, down safe at Manchester.

Assume it's another Monarch repatriation flight.

Weird approach path.
