Just had 2 RAF Pumas at high speed and low level over Manchester. Throwing quite the bank angle!

They were only around for about 3 mins then flew off at low level towards Liverpool.

Nothing showing on the usual sites. Quite a long way from home never seen them this far north.

Now on the ground, wont say where. Hopefully just a QRF or PJ exercise or something.

Showing up on ads-b ,come from Oxford and are heading past Chester, correction have now landed and not showing, only one puma was showing, but sometimes that happens when more than one aircraft are flying together.

They would be from Benson I assume.

At one point they were showing on ADSB as 25 feet AGL and 100kts LOL.

Looks like they were too low to be seen by receivers when they were over the city hence why I could not see them to start with.

At about ten to seven two military helicopters passed overhead on a heading south of Manchester towards Macclesfield. Checking ADS-B showed only one, a Puma. It had left Chester, roughly followed the M56 as far as Manchester then turned north, circling the conurbation and approximately following the M60 ring road.

There were definitely two helicopters flying together but weirdly one of them was completely unlit. I've seen something similar to this here before. Would it be correct to assume it is some sort of exercise, perhaps with the second (lit up) aircraft escorting for safety reasons?

A Pair of Pumas flew over me a while ago, loks like they're now back up toward South Manchester again, only one shown on ADS-B though!

Probably just coincidence but a sentinel R1 was operating over Manchester today, does anybody know can they be used for civilian surveillance ?

Anyone got any idea what flew over West Wiltshire (directly over our house in Hilperton) at 17.45 today? Very low, slow and very, very loud. Only caught the lights as it passed.

I'm guessing one of the US bombers (B1 maybe) but it was taking an unusual flight path for in or out of Fairford.

Must be some brass knocking about too as a C37 has been kicking around.

Whatever we had over several times was heading out towards Bath (I'm only 9 miles south-ish). Weird that I couldn't even dig anything up on FighterControl etc.

Very low and slow deep rumble... guess would be a big plane and not a Chinook etc confused

I think bombers are excluded from the normal radar that we can see, last year I was down in Cirencester and b1s came across and didn't show up but we're low enough to see what they were, they were loud.

A pair of B52s left before 10.00h this morning. Saw one come back mid afternoon in the daylight and another about an hour ago in the dark. Of course there could have been others in between.

Tornados, not B-52s, over Wiltshire/Bath this evening apparently (although the B-52s were out and about, just not down here).

Amazed by that, had no idea they would roar like that flying so slowly.

Now I know absolutely nothing on the subject etc, so completely guessing here but curious, but this wouldn't be a exercise for an impending Royal visit would it? testing routes etc?

RAF tweeted they were running an exercise over Manchester / Liverpool for 48 hrs.

Looks like this little exercise is taking over most of the North Sea today plus a big chunk of the west coast of Scotland.

Some pretty hefty diversions for flights trying to cross from EU to transatlantic routes.
