There is a Boeing E-6B Mercury heading into Mildenhall at the moment. That's an airborne command aircraft, not seen one of those in these parts before.

You do seem them dropping into Mildenhall on the odd occasion.

Usually though they are to be seen flying in and out of the airbase at Rota in south-west Spain, which is a joint Spanish-US Navy base.

Just an update on the route for those not following this:

According to Avherald, it suffered some form of problem with the number one engine. So likely a single engine landing back into MAN. It says they held to burn off fuel, I don’t know enough about the 767 with reference to MLM or rough TOW for the sort of flight they were doing, but it’s possible that the crew were dealing with multiple failures depending on what had gone wrong exactly with the N.1 engine, which may go to explain the longer time spent in the hold.

In porta pollensa in the hotel closest to the military base - this just did a low level flyover. Can’t find it on flighradar now, must be away somewhere else - it’s based here

I used to love watching those from the beach. Often picking up water in the bay. They used to fly right over the Villa we were staying in at nearby Alcudia.

Fantastic! We lived near the Rose Bay seaplane base in Sydney and I could sit for hours watching them!

That particular frame isn't ADS-B equipped.

Great views of the base & aircraft from the end of the Illador hotel jetty or keep walking past the hotel right to end of path and there is another jetty that parallels the fence
