Alright chaps quick question. When you see pics of Typhoons escorting Russian planes in the paper they never look like they have any missiles attached. I was just wondering if the jets flying around protecting our skies have anything when they go up or are they like the sky police ?

When a Typhoon intercepts a Bear, is there any way the two aircraft can communicate directly if necessary? For example if one of them has a serious problem and is likely to need search and rescue, or just notices something like a fluid leak from the other aircraft.

There are standard frequencies they will attempt to use, though there's still the language barrier to overcome.

Yeap, you have 2 "GUARD" frequencies which should be constanty monitored by both aircraft (Military 243.0 Mhz and Civil 121.5Mhz) which would allow the aircraft to talk.

There's also a series of Internationally recognised interception signals.
