Personally I don’t see swans as overpriced, the finish on them I believe justifies the cost.

But of course I’m biased as I have the pleasure of sailing on one.

I still stand by my comment that I found the Bavaria 40 cruiser to be my least favourite boat for 2 handed sailing that I’ve sailed on.

I used to crew on a Beneteau 47 ft yacht. It had a deeper keel and taller mast for racing. Also, it had plastic covered cushions rather than normal fabric-for quick drying when racing offshore. I liked the yacht and thought it was well built, but too big to sail shorthanded.
I much preferred the 37ft Malo that I got to go on occasionally. They are amazingly well built and the price secondhand for them reflects this.
Not sure if a good yacht for the med-but great for near the Arctic circle!

Ben, thank you for your input.

I had a go on a charter Bavaria 39 a few weeks ago I liked the way it sailed but not the quality of the fixtures and fittings.

Do you guys have a stand at the boat show? As you sell many makes of boat you are probably the sort of person I need to talk to as I start out on what I think will be a long search.

Seriously. Have a look for yourself rather than listening to well meaning people who genuinely don't have a clue.

Sorry everyone, it's true though.

Although as far as I can see, all the views offered up were by people talking from experience.

Boat shows are not always reflective of what constitutes a good buy. The flashy, feature laden boat may be awful in reality, hence asking for opinions beyond the salesman.

Yep, I asked for experiences and am grateful for the responses.

Boat show in a month for some ideas and then see about catering a few different to gain my own experience of different makes.

No rush to jump in and purchase, this will probably be home for a few years so want to get it right.
