Still watching but been a bit tied up fighting our illustrious governing body.
I hear Falmouth - Scilly was a bit of a flop. there does seem to be gathering interest in abandoning UIM/RYA to race.CTC entries limited this year.
I don't do secret coded messages.
Steve
Not good for any of us at the moment Ben.
Jack and Barry won the 3A worlds last year (the one and only UK success) but haven't raced this year at all due to RYA not attracting any teams.
We took a decision to race the Worlds in Guernsey under a different authority only to be met with RYA refusing to release. £10k of rerig and £2K in legal fees later we got a release to Ireland only to have the Worlds cancelled.
OCR have left RYA as have Jetsport and AquaX.
Class 3 will be leaving any day now and I suspect Marathon is not too far behind.
Circuit is by no means rosy and Thundercat and P1 are on their arses with entries.
With all of that going on the 'governing body' still talks about what a wonderful job it is doing.
Only good news for the team is our new rig that is out in Bermuda has won every race so far this year including winning the Round the Island last week against a lot more powerful rigs. In hindsight we should probably have shipped both the class 3s over there and kept the other two here for a bit of 'unsanctioned' racing.

Out of interest, why was it a flop? Weather or entries? Only asking as I tried to help the organisers as best I could. CTC entries limited this year.
However they fell straight into the same problem that Guernsey Worlds had. By OCR leaving and the remainder of the clubs, despite their members votes, remaining for another term, the fleet is split.
Now the 'unsanctioned' by RYA racers are all barred from competing in sanctioned events and a race organiser cannot gain the number of entries required to cover the insurance that RYA walked away from last year whilst maintaining the cost of licencing at the same levels.
The RYA as a whole are now acting against the interests of the sport and it got particularly nasty today with the Plymouth QHM taking a defamatory letter from RYA into account and refusing a race that has been held there for as long as I can remember. That will now go legal and the demise continues.
I could write a book on it all, in fact I have at the request of the UIM.

Only the tip of the iceberg Ben, those that are still blowing the RYA trumpet are finding out just how unpopular they can make themselves.Get this weekend in Cowes out of the way and the final nails will be driven home I guess.

I'm in a monumental sulk with the RYA after the debacle of me not getting a race licence last year.
The sooner Jeni Jelf is not connected with running the sport of powerboat racing the better.
Unfortunately it goes beyond the individual. The management are fully aware of the issues including being in receipt of numerous complaints about her and others but refuse to react to it. That is the sole reason OCRDA pulled away from RYA, they refuse to accept representation from the race teams. The sooner Jeni Jelf is not connected with running the sport of powerboat racing the better.
Anyway good luck to anyone attending Cowes this weekend with Jelf as RYA Observer. As Alan Priddy pointed out last night the whole fleet will be disqualified just getting off the start line.
220m wide start chute and a rule to state no boat must come within 100m of a non racing craft.

I see that BPRC have announced they are withdrawing their affiliation to the RYA.
It was already voted on six months ago and this is just the official announcement that nobody believed would happen. They have withdrawn Ben and already got the rubbish reply to say RYA are revoking all their licences! We ran a class 3 invitation race outside of RYA in Poole last week and had most of the BPRC regulars pop in to chat future plans.
Next on the agenda is to resolve the UIM recognition for our new governing body so our lads can take part internationally. I reckon Simpo must have a mole somewhere.
