So who's worried about there boat then ?
Can't now get to it to check it out.
Was concerned about not being able to display my new licence as can't get to the boat.
EA have said quite sensibly that it's not their top priority but they can check electronically anyway to see who has and has not got licences.

I checked on ours evening of the 23rd, after a week working from home, just before the announcement further locking down movements.
Got a hunch that something was brewing, and the boat had not been checked for nearly 5 months before that. Fortunately although longer than normally left, we are very used leaving her laid up for several months at a time over winter, and all was fine and I am sure all will be fine if its another 5 months.
However I also feel visiting the boat can be done in a very low-transmission-risk manor, as I did when I went on Monday evening. My own car, open air carpark, one pedestrian gate which was left unlatched (never is, so presumably covid 19 precaution) so pushed open with foot, walk past other boats without touching anything, lock our boat which nobody else has been on for months, and then I am inside and a good distance from anyone. She is in a marina where others spend time, so if something major happens we would find out, so for now for their sake as much as mind I will leave well alone, but if it has not reduced in abouter 4-6 months then I will revisit once again, repeat.
Obviously some boats are less prepared for being left, including historic and wooden boats whos hulls do tend to weep, however especially as we enter the dryer months the risk should be low for almost all boats.

They'd have to be pretty stupid to fine someone for non-display, given that their boss HM Govt has told us we can't go there to display it. And of course the EA make us pay for a licence disk so we can use their rivers - and then tell us we can't use them. You can guess what the chances of a refund are.It's annoying that I can't get to my boat - technically it's far more isolated than where I am now. But people say that you will need to get petrol, and might break down, and both of those increase the risk of transmission. Which they do.
we are the same, very rarely see lots of people, was down at the marina the weekend before it all kicked off, the few people we saw, everyone was keeping a good distance. less chance on the boat, than going for a food shop. Do you think there will be any controlled visit options put into place.
Hopefully we will come out the other side still in time to enjoy them

My marina is still open as it has residential boats too, so owners' cars will be going in and out, but the current Govt ruling is 'essential trips only' so that doesn't include me as I don't live there. I don't see Prof Whitty saying 'Food, exercise and boats'!Simpo Two said:

Why is everybody always after refunds for this and that ? How long have we left are boats for before all this broke out ? Weeks/months ? Now we want refunds........Just seems a little odd to me. What if we all refused to pay ? Just watched things crumble around us ?

The times you leave if for weeks at a time - what do you do about that ? Have you ever complained to them about that ? People are only complaining about it now for some reason.
When you go on holiday and leave your car parked up for a couple of weeks do you contact DVLA ? Do you contact the Council Tax department as you're not there ? Do you contact the BBC because you're not there to watch telly ? Shall I go on ?!

Well, how about I invoice you for 12 of something but only send 10? Will you be (a) happy, or (b) ask for a pro rata refund?It's about paying for something but not getting it.
