I just managed 6 nights on the boat I originally booked for this time last year. It was quite a novelty to be on holiday. Cold but sunny, very nice, I thought the canals would be busy but no.
I parked near a couple of pubs but everyone in the busy beer gardens just looked cold, so we stayed on the boat.
Children aged 9 and 11 were surprisingly good lock labourers and loved it.

Dad is busy remaking/repairing the wheelhouse roof I made for my A-levels back in 2004 and ive got 'order boat batteries' on my to-do list as the leasures are 14 years old this year and have not enjoyed the last 24 months but they we should be back on the game really.

Get some coal on order and get her out of the marina while there is still enough money in the account to cover the winters mooring fees.

Very nice, I am somewhat jealous of this!

Mrs geeks is sold on the idea of a boat (despite only have been on one once!) we just need to waiting until we have a couple of things paid off before picking one. Might be next year now which is a shame!

In fairness, most of the roof is being retained.

However the funnel fell on it a few years ago, which was too much even for really nice marine grade 5mm ply with a 135gsm glass + epoxy sheath.

This was was then left unrepaired, other than an annual change of the sillage tape so the damp got in and so we are cutting out that section and scarfing a new external skin in for the front 1/5th.

If anyone is interested, 5ft by about 7ft and under 25kg.

Glorious. Very envious though I suspect it's a bit chilly, especially at the 'stand outside in the cold' helm that is the wonder of narrowboats.

It’s not balmy, that’s for sure. But not too bad.

A few hours into Bath, glorious sunshine down the locks and back, now moored up and heading for Five Guys!

Yeah very envious of that, you should dump a gopro on the bow and have it in timelapse would get some great scences!

Annoyingly I left the GoPro set on 30s timelapse from our building project so it's not as good as my Llangollen one, but here it is:

I'm struggling with that - something to do with the motion I think frown

Think this is my first outing this year, sat on my mooring before now but it's been blowing a gale.

Only an hour around the corner but nice and peaceful on an EA mooring.

Excuse the Post Office red paint, needs it's first t-cut of the year !

Oh man, that really reminds me of my grandparents/our boat growing up, lots of great memories on the Grand Union!

And the nose-to-tail traffic on the bridge going into Ely... smile

One of those moorings is called 'Hundred Acre' but I haven't seen Winnie the Pooh there yet.
