Is May 2021 recent enough? We did Trowbridge to Bath and back over a weekend. I'd say your point on lots of liveaboards is true, but we didn't have any issues with finding visitor moorings.
Ok thanks, yes that's recent enough !!(Some people just post about a holiday they once had in the 70/80/90s as though it's still relevant!!)

All you full timers , how's the gas/electric increases hitting you ?
I guess unless your plugged in at a marina your using your own solar and no gas ?
Just increase in diesel and coal then .
I've got a large gas tank so haven't refilled in a while (and don't know what the availably is going to be like?). Expecting it to be 50-100% more I guess unless your plugged in at a marina your using your own solar and no gas ?

Looks like I might start buying some coal soon so don't know what the price will be on that.
I've just gone lithium hybrid route so my battery range is now 40% bigger and it charges up so much quicker.

Has anyone holidayed on any of the French canals? Looking for something a bit different for next year and wondering about Brittany perhaps. Any suggestions or experience that can help please?
I haven't, but it's on my to-do list. Here's a link that might be useful: https://www.locaboat.com/en/boating-holidays/franc...The most famous is of course the Canal du Midi.

Thanks both - I'll have a read through their website. Any feedback on the boats - were they in good order, comfortable etc, any that looked tired or better than others in any way?
Boats were well fitted clean and we had good service from the various bases we picked the boats up from . We are boat owners in UK and were very happy with what we had . Another international outfit is Le Boat. We had a 'budget' one from them on the Thames (because we were late bookers and it was all they had left). Boat was basic as expected but it worked, staff very good, the only real fail was a 4' comedy boathook that didn't reach the bank from the cockpit!
But watch out for what they call 'engine hours'; they charge you extra for every hour the engine is running and they're expensive, so allow for them when budgeting. In fact there are many extras with their budget boats, they will even charge you extra for cushions so bring your own!

Good advice. Thanks and I’ll check them out.
