Those booked in for arrivals and departures are in for a treat, I think they're over 350 aircraft scheduled now.

Good luck to the team organising the static display!

So I wouldn’t normally pay for an airshow having worked RIAT many times however this year I think will be special. Also thanks to a colleague I got a cheap ticket so really looking forward to visiting on the Friday.

My guests have asked the inevitable football question, and I'm fairly confident they will all pull out if England make it and there is no way of watching it. Has there been any official word from RIAT? I know Goodwood are but they have big screens up anyway, I don't recall RIAT having any usually.

We've got tickets for Sunday, really looking forward to it, although it looks like it's going to be a real scorcher!
Better take some brollies to try and have a bit of shade.

I'd advise them to wait until late Wednesday evening at the earliest wink

There was a shot of the crowd at Yeovilton Airshow celebrating the England victory on Saturday having watched it on some big screens. So if there's to be a minor miracle I would be amazed if RIAT don't sort something out.

Anyone else heard the rumours of a trump visit on Friday? His published itinerary has him down to visit a ‘defense site’ to view both US and U.K. capability. Then lunch at chequers, bucks afterwards, just a short helicopter ride from fairford. I’ve also heard hints dropped from people in high places that he’ll be there.

Could be a little bit of added excitement watching the circus arrive.

Yes I have been hearing the rumours for weeks. There are VIPS going Friday, but not Trump. I imagine it would be a security nightmare.

I dunno, security is pretty tight anyway, keep him on the opposite side of the runway to the plebs and it’s not much different to visiting any other air base.

Exactly.

If he does attend, it will likely be north side, not public south side.

Prince Edward and Princess Anne will also be there Friday would be surprised if he did. I read it was an exercise he would attend. So possibly something on Salisbury plain?

It would be rather obvious if here were to come as doesn't he use all his own aircraft inc helicopters when he is here? He is also due to be in Scotland on Friday night so are those helicopters good for the distance or would he be taking airforce one up to Scotland?

The green painted Ospreys have already been flying in the UK and I’m expecting one of the aircraft carriers to visit the Solent this week.

They're repeatedly saying on Twitter they're not planning to screen it, which would be a crying shame. Would force thousands of people (including myself) to make a tough call on whether to go or not. They could, quite easily turn it into the world's best fanzone!

  • if we make it that is

I would suggest call your mobile provider and get an additional 5GB of internet data and stream it. I will watch it and might bring my iPad in for a bigger screen if we do make the final.

i doubt their temporary mast will cope with the sheer volume of mass streaming that will inevitably occur!
