I would suggest call your mobile provider and get an additional 5GB of internet data and stream it. I will watch it and might bring my iPad in for a bigger screen if we do make the final.
i doubt their temporary mast will cope with the sheer volume of mass streaming that will inevitably occur!

  • if we make it that is
Two years ago I was not able to get emails, last year we watched the F1 and Cricket from time to time. (For the record we have a three day ticket so we plan carefully not to miss something)

I suspect the Mast can cope but lets all make a plan, Message board on here?

Just seen an update from RIAT and airport style security is being installed and higher checks carried out.

Think that answers the earlier question.

Is that a new thing or do they do it every year?

Every year they have the airport metal detectors and bag searches. I think there’s some new road closures for pedestrians for safety based on shoreham.

I was quite impressed with the Security last year, it wasn't anywhere near as bad as i thought it would be.

Camera bag on table, coins, keys etc out of pockets for a quick rub down with a beepy wand (ooh err etc) then i opened the Camera Bag up. They took a quick look, zipped it back up then handed it back to me wishing me luck with carrying the bloody thing around all day hehe

This year i'll be leaving the loose change at home and the house keys etc in my Nephew's car as he's driving. That will only leave the camera backpack to be searched if i'm one of the chosen few.

I'm looking forward to Saturday now.

The road closures are on the north side of the runway. Is not the road is closed. For the last few years people watch for free on the road side and because soo many people do this it forces the people walking into the road. So now you are not allowed to stop there now.

We have always brought a trolley with beers and chairs etc and it is never checked. Kind of we trust you as you have planned this! But think we will be checked this year on Friday.

If anyone wants to track it, or is interested in its route, the N190TC Drone is en route.

Currently over Upper Manitou Lake with 3737 miles to travel.

I imagine they will have a capacity plan based on this scenario

Can someone give me the top survival tips pls?

My first time at RIAT.

What to take / not to take? Where best to watch the display? Buy food there or take etc etc etc?
I have 2 boys (11 and 7) and a wife in tow.

Will be leaving as early as possible and fully prepared for length traffic queues.

If you're early just head for the display line nearest to where you enter. The central area is so full of enclosures and VIP bits we've always been perfectly happy in the Green Zone where we enter.

Food and drink is (I think still) on a set price system, so there should be no need to shop around. It's not cheap but it never is at these events.

We take a cool bag rammed full of food and drink, camping chairs then just chill for the day watching the action.

We're usually in the car park by 6.45am and it's just but you drive straight in. At that time we can then basically pick out spot on the field once the gates open.

I've been going since 1976. My simple advice is this:

1 Travel light. You'll be doing quite a lot of walking. I've given up on the coolbox thing. Nowadays I just buy whatever I need there (it's not that expensive).
2 But folding chairs are nice, if you have them.
3 Drink water
4 If it's sunny make sure you have some shade, especially with children.
5 Drink water again.

Yes there are free water taps for refilling drinks bottles.

Left luggage space too if you don’t want to lug around kit all day.

I have a trolley for all the stuff now!

Can you still stand and watch by the crash gate near Totterdown? I know you aren't allowed in the field any more which is a shame.

No as there are people at the end of the road. There are ways round though. I'll try tomorrow and see what happens. I got told to move from the end of runway 27 even though I was on my bicycle.

Oh that's a bummer...What does that yellow sign say on the left?
I know you can't drive down there any more...but you can usually walk down.
