Last 2 x BA 747's due to leave Heathrow next week, on Thursday 8th October, which includes the retro Negus scheme 747 G-CIVB.

According to the London Heathrow Spotters Facebook group, the two aircraft operating the final British Airways 747 departures from Heathrow will do so simultaneously from parallel runways.

They will then perform a flypast of the airport, before heading off to Kemble.

The plan is subject to weather, and may be pushed back to Friday 9th October if necessary, and exact times are not yet known.

That would be quite cool operating the last flight.

My mate did a final Cathay 747 flight and his name was stencilled under the cockpit window like in the military aircraft sometimes.

He’s got photos of it being broken up and his name still there. hehe

My first long haul was on a BA 747 in 1994, and my last was on a Lufthansa 74-8 late last year - lovely iconic aircraft.

O/T I'm sad that the A380 line has been canned - I used it to fly LHR - DXB frequently - I suspect the days of the four jet are over, other than Military types.

I remember the crowds for the final Concorde departures.. wonder if it will be similar this week for the 747’s

I'll be trying to get there, as 50 years ago, I was at LHR for the arrival of the first BOAC 747 (my Uncle worked for BOAC)

Any ideas on the likely timings - i’d like to be at the Kemble end to watch them land?

Have now heard a rumour that they might be departing LHR at 7am and before sunrise....
Likely to try and stop people gathering to see it happen in the current mass gathering avoidance climate.....

The first 747 I flew on was a BA jet that looked like that.

Still prefer the BOAC scheme though.

Frankfurt to Teheran and I think the aircraft was pretty much brand new and they were flying until fairly recently.

People still produce them on flights.

I haven’t seen a BOAC one though but have seen other airlines and the old hardback BA junior jet club one a few times.
