How does a ship like that, inside Holyhead sea wall, manage to be so badly damaged?
As I looked at it, the vessel was lee-shored athwart the gabions that make up the sea wall. In the prevailing sea state, no vessel will survive that for long
Plus she was timber and rotten as a pear.

It seems not.

20th September update.
"The plan remains to move Llys Helig under tow THIS year, and soon if we can."

However given they also said they would give notice and allow people to wave them off, I assume it didn't move, likely bow waiting for spring. We shall see.

ShipHappens in the other hand, busy replacing frames, and posting regular videos and Patreon content like goodens!

Very much looks like it. A shame, I thought it was a pretty thing, but the indicators were there early on.

Hopefully now it's upright and mostly watertight, it might be a somewhat more viable project for someone, but if I consult my crystal ball, I think we can see where it'll probably end up.

It's always been slow progress and intermittent comms. I'm holding out for a spring announcement.

Their website was updated a few months back with them plugging holes.

https://www.llyshelig.com/

Edited to add: Looks like that was an update from their Facebook page but something does seem to be going on still.

Yes, part of that. But also, when you see these projects - they always start with a whole bunch of fanfair, support clubs and so forth.
And then when the reality of the massive restoration and cost required truly sinks in, they quietly disappear. As always, hope I'm wrong, but it is following the pattern.

It is nice to see that the family restoring ML1392 seem to be sticking with it and making decent progress though. I stopped following them when all the fan club stuff started - "Oh here we go". I am glad to be wrong on that one, so far.

Yes, post on the FB pages 30 April that a hole had been temporally plugged, which can also be seen via the website.

As I understand the plan was, having missed the weather at the end of last year, to move her around to Chatham.

Obviously where she is now is presumably a lot cheaper than almost anywhere else, so they will not want to move her till everything else is in place.

This always was going to me a marathon not a sprint, but would be lovely to see the next steps.

Yes, little steps that move her along the journey would be really interesting. I mean, we are nobodies. I'm OK with that. But it is interesting.

I guess the trick is to fix things faster than they fall apart. If the pace is too slow, the boat will unravel itself anyway.

There speaks an experienced boat owner.

The trouble with llys helig is I reckon you could spend a million just making it structurally sound again. And then the spending really starts.
