End of the A380?

Ah, sounds like the same issue as the 777 we were on then - fitting 9 seats where 8 would be much, much more comfortable.
Unfortunately it's not easy to find out which airlines are fitting seats that way (no coincidence of course!).
Not even on SeatGuru? https://www.seatguru.com/airlines/Emirates_Airline...Unfortunately it's not easy to find out which airlines are fitting seats that way (no coincidence of course!).
Edit: it looks like only JAL are going to have 2-4-2 economy cabins on their 787s in the long term.

Once again Pistonheads answers a question I have concerning seat configuration in economy on a Singapore Airlines A380 London to Singapore when Seat Guru and others could not come up with the answer!
Briefly put, Mrs Indi Pearl and I fly out via Singapore twice a year for scuba diving trips in the far east and Pacific. We are Krissflyers so can book our specific seats a year in advance and always pick upper deck economy AC or HK.
Having done so for this years trip winter trip we were somewhat surprised to receive a mail from the airline re assigning us to a row in the 3-4-3 downstairs economy section. On going into the airlines seat configuration map for this flight we noticed that upper deck economy had gone (replaced by BC). We noted that there is only one set of twin only seats in the entire economy section and were lucky enough to bag them albeit at extra cost!
However none of the 4 A380 configurations shown in all the seat map websites matched this configuration and it is only now reading this thread I know the answer. This flight must be going to use one of the remodeled planes as opposed to an earlier version when we booked last year. Shame they have discontinued upper deck economy.
Pistonheads - better than google.

I suppose the real answer is that most folks don't really care about anything except the headline price, hence getting 10-seats across a widebody twin over 8 or 9...

Until Passengers realise what the Airlines are doing and start to avoid the affected Planes they will continue to do it.
I'm thinking 99% of economy passengers couldn't care less, and almost certainly couldn't name the aircraft they're sat on even with the safety card in front of them.At a push if I told somebody I was flying on a Dreamliner some would probably remember the positive buzz created by the likes of Thomson, and people remember flying A380 for obvious reasons. But given a list of options to fly to say, New York at the same time, all direct, the vast vast majority would pick tbe cheapest option, some would consider the actual airline if the price was similar, and virtually nobody would look at the aircraft itself.
I'm over 6ft and we holiday a lot, always in economy. One fairly uncomortable upper deck 747 economy experience aside I'd struggle to recall issues by plane. Far more likely to recall by airline and the level of service/amenities on the flight. My wife never forgets that we usually get free wi-fi flying Norwegian and was a little disappointed that we flew the same route with BA next time.

I've done a number of flights on the A380, with BA, Singapore & Qatar. I don't find them particularly special as a passenger. No better or worse than anything else to be frank. They are just big. I much prefer the 747 upper deck has a far superior feel to it more personal. I've got a first B787 flight in a few weeks so will see if that's any different but somehow I doubt it!

The A380’s tend to have wider seats in economy than other types. If you fly on one with economy upstairs the luggage bins by the window give a much more spacious feel to the window seat and can be used as an arm/leg/pillow rest.In business class or indeed first I don’t think aircraft type makes much of a difference really aside from the noise aspect which you’ll find up the front of a 787 is virtually non existent. I’ve flown in 1B on a 787-8 (3 class so in club not first) and it was quiet enough for me to sleep like a baby, wine and gin may have had a hand in that.

Indeed, a flight in the economy section of BA is a very cramped and unpleasant experience.

Must admit I like the A380 - larger planes bounce around less in my mind, so largest is best. Might just be psychological, mind you...
I had a OmanAir dreamliner for a recent leg. big difference in cabin noise, much quieter and very smooth. 43,000ft a new record for me too. But I agree, something about the A380 - feels very comforting being in a big bus

Apart from on the Embraer E190 I flew on over xmas. More legroom in a "standard" seat in BA economy compared with an exit seat in Easyjet A320. A flight that I really genuinely enjoyed rather than endured.
I fairly regularly fly on Flybe 175/195's... They are very nice planes....DanL said:
