An old trick. Get a non smoking seat, whllst being a smoker, then tap up the crew if you can have a quick smoke 'down the back' by the rear door area. Or, 'are there any spare seats in the smoking section'.

I just jam my knees into the back of their seats makes for a lot of discomfort & they get the message - eventually & especially if I jig my knees around a lot.
