I jumped into a Taxi and had an extremely large fish & chips with mushy peas in Oban!

Jammy Dodgers and tea in the TLC hut whilst uplifting copious quantities of avgas and studiously avoiding the high-viz jobsworths at the other end of the airfield is part of the Oban tradition.

Been a while since I was there, and I hear the council have been giving Paul grief again. frown

Oban is famous for them. You always got a Jammie Dodger and a cup of tea when you landed there from Paul.

Not again...

They have made such an unholy mess and wasted such an obscene amount of taxpayer money on Oban, Coll and Colonsay, there really should be an inquiry about it.

Was very lucky to get a backseat ride in a Typhoon last year for just over an hour.
Without a doubt the most incredible experience in my life

Performance takeoff ( 0 to 10,000 feet straight upwards) with a bit of low level stuff through the highlands before flying over my kids school towards the north sea to go through the sound barrier upside down. Even got to have a go myself and did a fair few rolls, loops, split S's and high G stuff.

Big bucket list item ticked off and am forever grateful to have had the opportunity to experience something like that as not a lot of folk do, Somewhat bitter sweet though as i know i will probably never get to experience something like that again.

I'd love to get into flying myself and do a PPL but i just dont have the funds for it.

WOW indeed, definitely would like to hear the background of how you managed to pull that off!

I guess being employed by HMG was a good start lol, But even then its still difficult to get a backseat ride. Most folk i've seen who got them usually did because they've either grafted their backsides off and got one as a pat on the back or were leaving the RAF after considerable amount of time done. I simply got lucky when i ask my boss dropped if he would put my name in to the hat for the next one and mine came out.

Have a look into the Junior Ranks Pilot Scholarship if your trip in the back inspired you to want a PPL.

Congratulations on your command, I’m guessing with the blue airline.

To be fair, almost all the ex-Fast Jet/Red Arrows guys I've flown with, they're the least likely to tell you all about it!

With regard to the MAX Let us know if anybody will fly with you!! Could be a few years before they get real confidence back on that one.
