Bit misleading to say there are 20k for sale when they are all from the same vendor.
In fact, the only non motoring items for sale apart from one watch laugh

The old adage is very true....the two happiest days in your life are the day you buy your boat...and the day you sell your boat.
Really? I hear this frequently said, but never hear it explained. I don't know what sort of boats you've been buying, but I couldn't disagree more

The only person who'd say this is either not into the water/ocean (in which case, why buy a boat?) or bought a lemon (in which case the which sentiment could be applied to any purchase).

I'd put boat (and I'd include PWC) ownership head and shoulders above pretty much any purchase I've made. They're awesome fun.

Not my cup of tea, but lovely boat and great article by the way!
It's what people that have never owned a boat usually say. I've never heard anyone that owns or has owned a boat say it, ever.
100% this. Along with “if it flies floats or fks, rent it”, and “a boat is a hole in the water you throw money into”.

Witty, yet hilariously unoriginal rash financial advice doled out by those not in the know.

Here’s another for people to repeat at the social club bar; “Boats are are like strippers. They both stop working after you stop throwing money at them.”
Or "A bad day on the water is better than a good day at the office". Oh, hang on - that one's actually true biggrin

Totally agree with both of you though. I can only assume that most people who repeat this "two happiest days" stuff have never been near a boat in their lives.

I'll be out on the pontoon on Saturday morning and I'm already like a kiddie in a sweet shop thinking about it bounce I'd be out before then were it not for the strong easterlies coming in (proper snotty out there for us under those conditions).

A lovely thing, but much like a caravan or motor home, unless you use it on a regular basis, it’s just a huge waste of money....
There was a time when I would have agreed with you, but now I don't. My dad has been sailing all his life, bought his first boat at the age of 18, we had to sell the boat last year because he could no longer handle it. Selling it took away the main thing he lived for (aside from family), his mental decline since it was sold is frightening. Yes the costs were high (Hamble marina fees etc), but I would pay double that to have him in better mental health.

Back on topic, that is a lovely boat, and if I had £500k spare I would buy one.

Sadly my boat budget is more like £100k and shared with my brother it must have sails.

Hunton 37 would be more comparable - but you are right would be faster too - sadly neither have been made for a while and are unlikely to be too...

….and your point is?
I own 2 cars both bought secondhand. My last car was a Jaguar XF estate bought new. I try where possible to buy UK product from UK suppliers.
My point is that we collectively do not support UK products, manufacturers like Germany, France, Italy, Japan. As a result the choice of UK produced product by UK owned product reduces. we flog off national treasures.....yet get nostalgic about the UK. We talk about Brunel (senior was French) yet where is the positive talk about current engineers, companies etc.in national news.
If you were in Germany you have choice across ten range of types of cars to choose from that are home grown, engineered by German companies. Here we happily sell or destroy our own. We sill make 50 year old jokes about our products. Our national pride is based upon nostalgia and blame. Brexit is the sad natural conclusion.
I am not perfect....nor a saint, but I love the UK and have always worked in UK manufacturing as an engineer.

Like you I shall also be on the pontoon on Saturday - I'm doing the Round the Island race on Saturday and 2 of us will be delivering the boat to Hamble from Chichester tomorrow on a 26ft sportsboat which does not reef. If the predicted Force 6 gusts come into play - if we are not planing - we are going to be a little overpowered....it should be an exciting sail. If people made comments about boat ownership substantiated with their own boat ownership experience - it might explain some of the postings. If i think of the cost/return i get from the boat - together with the number of people who also get to share the experience - compared to doing trackdays with cars and bikes - it compares very favourably.

"The world of marine performance is still waiting for such a vehicle; a vessel which is straightforward to manoeuvre around a marina, comfortable and practical, yet can also allow enthusiasts without experience in the World Powerboat Championship a taste of genuine waterborne prowess"

I spent time in a Sea Ray recently and it seemed to be more than adequate. Would love to know how this moves the game on.
Just look at the thing and stop being such a Derek!
Yes, looks great, but the Sea Ray wasn't bad looking and the 700bhp helped to give it a taste of genuine waterborne prowess, all IMO smile

I feel your pain bud.

This was last Friday - just before heading in, a pod of dolphins surfaced next to us. Tried (and failed) to get a piccie.

Thought to myself WTF am I doing out here, it's awful. hehe

I'm lucky enough to own an apartment overlooking Lake Como and some of the boats/yachts there are truely impressive. I reckon this would stand out though.

Love it!
Bellagio is beautiful in a restrained way. I love the drive there. Are you on the peninsula, or across the way?

That’s a shame been wanting one since I saw Sahara

I take it they’ve gone bust? Hope not they seemed as good as anything out there.

Guess I’d better look for a used one smile
