It’s a shame how this seems to be slowly dribbling to an end. I really enjoyed the early episodes but the lack of momentum recently is disappointing.
That’s a bit harsh - it will definitely be harder going further north, and it’s clearly further from home for him and the support crew.

Googling the MOT reveals it passed in Feb 2022 so I guess there’s this summer’s progress to come. Hopefully soon; it’s been thoroughly enjoyable.

Septembers AIS was last on 2 months ago in Thurso. So that’s a long old stretch of Scotland done between islay/mull and Thurso so I suspect time is now editing all the footage over winter ready for a start in the new year.

Awesome! I'll have to watch the one before again, to remind me where he is.

I thought the 'rona might have stopped the journey completely, but thankfully not.
He was going great guns last summer and then seems to have just stopped. He is such as great editor and producer; when a one man band can produce stuff like this it really makes me wonder WTF the BBC think they are doing with their billions.

Hopefully he is ready now for an early start to the season and gets to make some solid progress this year - to Morecombe and Beyond (by August? Maybe?)
He’s done a lot of adverts most recently Aldi or Lidl can’t recall which one. We did a Zoom interview with him over lockdown.

Clearly the day job is getting in the way of the hobby, something I am sure we can all related to!

Glad I wasn’t Making it up. I think that was one of my favourite episodes. Great to see the effort that goes into making new boats but also the effort needed to keep Goodwin going. I suspect that’s going to be the highest specified sea rider in the world…..

Would be great to employ Harry to document the full build of one of the tenders….

Still think doing it in a searider is the soft option compared with:

Windsurf Round Britain – One Epic Journey

14th September 2015
Jono Dunnett has done it – over 2000 miles later and he has become the first person to windsurf round Britain un-aided. It has been an incredible journey, which you can follow from beginning to end here on Boards and on the Windsurf Round Britian blog

and

Tim Batstone who windsurfed around Britain in 1985

These guys have just sat on their arses in a boat - they have held the sail and done the trip in a much more physical manner

Yep and paddle boarding https://amp.theguardian.com/uk-news/2021/sep/14/fo...

Using the wind is just cheating and not really any effort involved wink

It doesn’t across at all as a human challenge, more of a challenge for the little boat. It’s a wonderful series I think, and much more interesting (to me) than a windsurf would have been.

I've gone from being the armchair critic of not believing what I saw in episode 1, to fully supporting the boat and doing our best to make sure it gets round. I stand by Harry as being one of the most fun genuine people you can meet. Either that or he hypnotised me in to some kind of benevolent trance.....
If you can help him in some way, do it, but be prepared smile
He puts fun back in to everything.

Harry certainly comes across very well on camera, as do Cockwells in this part of the adventure. Well done for helping out in this way. It's obviously not an inexpensive gesture.

Those guys at Cockwells are a good bunch aren't they?

I really enjoyed this episode. I suspect the amount of work that went into Goodwin far exceeded its value but I really hope that both Raymarine and Cockwells benefit from it because this is one of the best travel series I've ever watched.

Ah, so we saw you in the most recent video then. A really nice gesture (well, a lot more than a gesture!) to help him out with refitting the boat. It was also a nice promo for the business, although I doubt many superyacht owners will be watching Harry's channel smile

When they were having tow-car issues, I did contact him offering my help. We had a quick exchange but it seems he's got himself sorted in that regard. I'd love to do what he's doing but I'm not sure I have the confidence to do it alone - as in, one boat. I'd have a go in a small flotilla. At least you'd have a chance of rescue... Having said that, you guys have given him much more of a chance at finishing it now. Good on you..!!

Epic.

I was assuming to a high grade refit, but I wasn't prepared for the amount of time and effort which went into the finish on the hull, fair play. I've worked for a boat builders producing high spec high speed deep vee RIBs, all be it for the commercial, defence SAR industries and that hull finish is off the scale even for a new board.

As you say, the amount of Raymarine equipment is obviously basically silly, but they do heavily sponsor other similar projects such as Ship Happens and I guess they have worked out the advertising and marketing they get with it is worth it. These YouTube channels have a really big following, and I am sure the product placement leads to sales.

Fair play all round. Look forward to second half, and presumably as we roll through spring into summer, ticking off some more miles!
