Disused railway stations.

Masbury Station (not on the list I think) was for sale just a few years ago. We looked into buying it but eventually decided it was just a bit too far out of town, and we hadn't finished the place we were in the throes of renovating so had to pass. Shame, as I'd have been quite happy to allow the S&D running rights through the garden.

Reminds me, I've got a pile of Ivo Peters' books on the S&D tucked away somewhere. His MkVI Bentley appeared at Bath Green Park station a few years ago, I understand it still belongs to his family. One of our now retired drivers started as a fireman at Bath Green Park shed in the mid '50s.This is site has led me to discovering a couple near my childhood home .I grew up in Saddleworth and knew a station had been closed but had never seen it. I did not know about a second station, Diggle just up the tracks. I have ridden my bike over where Diggle station once was hundreds of times passed the signal box. I had no idea that this was also the location for a fatal crash many years ago. About 200m away there is the entrance to a tunnel that was blocked off at the other end. For those that know the area it should come out near Saddleworth School.
The station I did know about but had never seen is Saddleworth. Interesting fact is that Ken Stephinson converted the station into a house after it was closed. Ken was the producer of......

I used to have the Totem signs from both Diggle and Saddleworth stations in the 1970's.. The old station master was called Alfred Fidler. I still have the old newspaper cutting from The Manchester Evening news when it closed in 1968. I'll see if I can dig it out and post it up.The station I did know about but had never seen is Saddleworth. The tunnel you refer to was Butterhouse, which I walked through three or four years ago, some photographs here:-

If anybody finds the Disused Stations 'site interesting, then they'd probably be able to waste hours and hours on here:
Railmap Online
Basically Google Maps, but you can overlay the routes of pretty much any old (or current) railway in the country.
They've added some of the US recently, and I think they're doing canals now, too.

Different part of the world, but stayed here 5 or 6 years ago albeit I don’t believe it’s an original station https://thesidingshotel.co.uk/
I think you're right - I don't believe Shipton ever had a station of its own. My uncle's dad built the Sidings and my uncle owned it for a long time. Think its been through a fair few owners since he sold it. Loved it there... Even did some pot washing in the kitchens one summer when I was about 14.Different part of the world, but stayed here 5 or 6 years ago albeit I don’t believe it’s an original station https://thesidingshotel.co.uk/
