[quote=stevensdrs]I have a friend on BA206 from Miami to Heathrow tonight. It's a 23 year old 747 so I will find out soon what he thought of it.[/quote

I've done that flight many times, then a little 737 up to Manchester. smile

I’m going to be that person sorry, it will have been an A320 up to Manchester from Heathrow for quite some time.

I feel slightly less of a prick for fixing the quote though.

Another option is to contract Coronavirus abroad - the UK govt will fly you back on a 747.

Space Center Houston. It’s great, you can even go up into the shuttle on top.

They were all due to have gone by 2025 anyway, so its not a surprise that it will be brought forward. I wonder how many of their A380's will not fly again as well.

From that same link above, Lufthansa are planning early fleet retirements as well, as they also don't expect a pre-virus level of international travel either.
Lufthansa are looking to retire six Airbus A380, seven Airbus A340-600, three Airbus A340-300, five Boeing 747-400, and 11 A320ceo aircraft.

Given there are is no real market for used A380's. and I can't see that improving, I would have thought it might be better to park them at the desert and wait for the market to improve. Fuel costs at least may well be lower.

Not even at the drastically reduced prices you can now buy one for.

While the last published price list of an A380 was $445 million, the 380's value has been plummeting for some time, with the Covid-19 effect certain not to improve matters.

Recently estimated market value of an A380 now ranges between $77 million for a 2005-build "half-life" aircraft and $276 million for a new 2019-build aircraft in "full-life" condition....talk about drive off the forecourt depreciation eek

But 10 years from now, the spare-parts value of an A380 could be as little as $35 million.

Wonder how much Air France got for that one that went to the scrappy in Knock?
