Manx Airlines BAe ATP on Heathrow to Ronaldsway for me. December 1991 when I was 7. I recall it was 7hr late which must have dampened my excitement a bit, but the extent of delay might have been exaggerated by my young mind.

Shame the ATP didn't do better commercially. Given the later success of the Q400 and ATRs on broadly the same format, it seems like it came before its time. Interesting they still serve the IOM and CIs for post every night.

Some enthusiasts at the aircraft museum at IOM airport are refurbing a Manx ATP as an exhibit which I'd like to visit when it's done.

Glad to see others clearly keep a geeky flight log also! I'm just coming up for my 200th flight and 200k miles. Anyone know how to find aircraft reg from a date and flight number long in the past?

My types flown are (in order of appearance!):
BAe ATP, BAe 146, 767, BN Trislander, Lockheed Tristar, 757, Hawker Sidley HS748, Sikorski S61N, BN Islander, Douglas DC3, A320, Cessna 172, BAe J31, 737, 777, Fokker F70, EMB145, 747, A330, F100, EMB190, Bombardier Q400, Fairchild Metroliner, MD80, Dornier D228, F50, ATR72, A380, CRJ200, dH Beaver, 787, A340, Saab 340, ATR42, A350.

FTFY.....

One of my early career experiences was accepting an ATP from the factory at Woodford for what was then the world's favourite airline. We never really wanted them but BAe virtually gave them to us at a time we were imminently needing a 748 replacement for the Scottish operations. The things were junk - take all the worst features of the 748 and add a load of new crap. Don't know anyone who flew or maintained them that had any fondness for them.

Also read a Manx memo telling staff to stop referring to the ATPs as Skodas.....back when Skodas were rubbish.

Perhaps I wasn't so far out on the 7hr delay then! Surely the economics can't be bad on them if they're still running the mail around? I'm affectionate about them anyway.

I have to say that sharing experiences of our respective first ever flights is really interesting, but giving a long list of all types of aircraft flown in that includes the mundane and unremarkable Boeing and Airbus types is pure w@nk, particularly in the context of this thread.

It was a diversion suggested by the OP so I'll give it a pass.

RAF Tristar to the Falklands via Ascension in, IIRC, 1985.

Glad I didn't have to go any earlier - C130s for the second leg! :-o

Must admit I'll be interested to see if anyone has a full set of Boeing 7NNs or Airbuses.

I don't know the type, but I do remember it was to do a static line parachute jump. Sort of day that sticks in the memory.

Ironically forgot to include in my list the Cessna 206 I did half a flight in.
