Thanks guys - appreciated.

It wasn't Yeoville though - bit lower down smile

This was funny when those more used to doing the filming realised they were being filmed. He did such a double take biggrin

I blo0dy love choppers!
Is that Culdrose?
I know it's been answered already, but that is Newquay Airport (formerly RAF St Mawgan), looking roughly West North West, over Tregurrian and Watergate Bay. Newquay itself is out of shot to the left, and the airport terminal buildings are the white buildings on the right of the runway. Off to the left is what is left of RAF St Mawgan, but as far as I'm aware the RAF no longer operate aircraft from there. Fistral Beach is just the other side of the spit of land at the top left of the picture.

As an aside, I saw a Merlin today, between the A35 and Brockenhurst, in the New Forest. Undercarriage down, and looking for all the world like it was landing somewhere. Navy brass on a jolly to Brockenhurst Manor Golf Club, perhaps... wink

Used to fly the Merlin.....a lovely beast indeed. Currently flying the S92A which has a canted tail rotor too...direct quote from the RFM (owners manual biggrin) is “The tail rotor is canted at 20 degrees thus providing 4% of total lift to the helicopter during hover operations”.

I'm and aviation expert and consultant for The Daily Mail. That is clearly a Cessna 737.

Been seeing some unsual merlin configs going in and out of Westlands/Leonardos' the last few weeks.

A lot of Merlin/Wilcat operations from Yeovilton at the moment.

Not seen one in that colour scheme for ages though?

Thats just the primer paint usually left for the first few "post build" test flights, once it's done more flying it'll get it's proper/final paint scheme added.

1 million rivets flying in close conformation.
IIRC That was the original description of the Shackleton.

My favourite quote for them is "They don't fly, they just vibrate so badly that the Earth rejects them" biggrin

Rawlimark! It’s you isn’t it!

I’m sure it’s not, but he’s well worth a follow on Twitter.
