If they didnt have anything suitable for the engine the CAA wouldnt allow it to fly
Well, that's clearly not the case is it, and hasn't been for some time.

Interesting videos posted by Kermit Weeks of a visit to his Fantasy of Flight centre by Richard Grace to view Kermit's Hawker Tempest V and Tempest II projects.......clearly from the discussions, Kermit has invited Richard to 'tender' for the restoration to airworthy of the Tempest V.

Some interesting comments by Richard in the second video regarding the Sabre engines that the Typhoon projects in Canada and UK have.
Richard did get his fact wrong though above the Sabre capacity being small....it was 37 litres, so same size as the RR Griffon and Daimler-Benz DB601/605, but with twice the number of cylinders.

Part One video here...

Part Two video here...

Yes the later version Sabre probably makes Kermit feel a lot safer to fly it and happier to get the project moving again.

And huge emotional connection for Richard as well.........after all these years.
Shame Carolyn didn't get to see this happen as well.

I believe tonight's Warbird Workshop is all about the Tempest that recently flew.

Does anyone know what channel it’s on?

Found it eventually. It’s on ‘More4HD’!
