"The De Havilland's and Northrop entries in the competition won by the Turbinlite Havoc, utilised fluorescent tubes, which offered redundancy, but proved unworkable in practice."

Good find Voldemort!I've always wondered what inspired the shape of so many between the wars tinplate toy aeroplanes and a few flying models. The DH29's cantilever wing made it much easier to model than the far more common biplanes.

1954-1958 Hawker P.1121 fighter, planned to be a mach 2.5 single seat fighter with a two seater variant. Cancelled in 1958, an enlarged version the P.1129 with twin engines (Rolls-Royce Medways) was submitted in 1959 to compete against TSR2 as a Canberra replacement.
Had the P.1121 or the P.1129 gone into production Sir Sidney Camm may not have gone on to design and Hawker to build the Harrier.

Seems to have wings and tailfin very similar to the Hunter. Had the P.1121 or the P.1129 gone into production Sr Sidney Camm may not have go on to design and Hawker to build the Harrier.
