I’m not sure that the affected space above the cockpit is part of the loading area. I think it’s blanked off, so the damage was probably not as dramatic as it first looks. This is a photo from inside the Bruntingthorpe one before it was “recycled”. You can also see the ring of light where the door shuts, so I also doubt that the Super Guppy was pressurised. The bright light is the entrance to the cockpit.

Sorry if it’s rotated 90 degrees. Can anyone sort that for me?

That's an amazing story, well worth a read.
The story refers to the aircraft's 300mph cruising speed, but then it hits trouble at 275mph in a V-max dive. ??
The 300mph cruising speed would be at high altitude, whereas the problem occurred during a dive at lower altitude where air pressure is higher

I think it is. But, that's mainly based on this pic:

I'm still trying to work out what they are biggrin.

Clockwise from the front I'm guessing (spoiler in case anyone else is still treating it as a quiz) . Delta Dagger, Voodoo, Starfighter, Super Sabre?

Mind if I steal that as a justification for a wider monitor?

Might as well put this one up - 13+ tonnes simply hanging in mid-air - truly impressive. And also VERY loud - last time I heard a plane as loud as this was (fittingly) a Harrier at the same place (RAF Cosford) about thirty years ago

Sadface that it can't be more colourful than that; have the RAF done any display colour schemes or even mocked one up in potatoshop?

An old manager of Mine, on the right, who flew with the polish 303 Squadron during 1940. One of the few.
