I didn't think it could get from Port Said to Felixtowe in 3 days so I checked. It's still off Port Said. https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/home/centerx:...

There are several such ships prefixed 'Ever'; Ever Genius is at Felixtowe.

You've got a great zoom on that camera, it's still off the coast of Egypt.

Or what you have got there is a photo of the Ever Genius - https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/details/ships...

Evergreen is the Company
Evergiven is the name of the ship that was stuck
All their ships are named Ever(something)

Just think, if the SCS had thown a strop or fancied some free cash they could have impounded HMS Queen Elizabeth... or shall we say held her hostage for £100Bn...

I sincerely hope she'd have shot her way out.
Them and whose army? I guess we'd quickly find out how effective our (unshiney) new hovver jets are. Before the USMCs cousins turn up and bomb the place back to the phaeros age.

If the events of sixty five years ago are anything to go by, US support for us in that part of the world is far from guaranteed.

I guess the US isn't as dependent on the Suez canal as we are - Far Eastern goods come across the Pacific. They might be more interested if the Panama canal was blocked though.

Out of interest, what’s the value of a vessel + cargo like that likely to be? At what point do you (as the insurer) just tell them to keep it? Or is the crew the issue in doing that?

Talking to someone last night who works in international insurance, the feeling was that the ship's owners had to concede something otherwise none of their ships would have been allowed through the canal... which would have knackered them somewhat.

I was thinking more they might not take the "impounding" of the US servicemen and equipment on board that ship with good humour.

Evergiven seems to be moored off Syracuse for a few days now. Is it waiting to enter port, or having repairs done?

Whatever the reason, it's definitely underway now. Syracuse is a long way behind it's current position.
