What have I done to my shut of valve?

This should be really simple, but when doing the oil and filter service on my boat, I managed to tweak my shut off valve to look like this
And it now weeps diesel. It should be simple to sort I would imagine as it looks like the threaded part shouldn’t be proud of the tap handle?? Although i couldn’t seem to sort it... was in a bit of a rush. I had also forgotten to shut it when changing the Delphi pre filter so shut it in a rush...

Around 60litres I think - will try and spin the thread down.

Yep, it a drain the tank and replace job - not the worst access but no doubt being a boat will throw up some issues - probably a very random thread.
