How low can BBMF fly?

Thank you for your sane and comprehensive response. But sadly, this is not my experience. I don't complain gratuitously, I fully accept they have to train *somewhere*, and the occasional low flyer is fine (indeed, I quite like to see the aircraft - hell, I follow the "Cool photos of aircraft" thread on PH), but sometimes they take the piss; the third or 4th day in a row when there were Apaches playing tag over my house for an hour or so I felt the need to ask if this was really necessary. I never got a response to my email (complete with video).
You’re not by sculthorpe military training area are you? Edited by Zumbruk on Monday 23 May 12:01
In one post you said they’re lying to you the next post is saying they never responded to you?
Low flying military aircraft:
For complaints about low flying military aircraft contact
SWK-lowflying@mod.gov.uk or call 01780 417 558
If you contacted a base direct like Marham as it’s your local then they could be completely unaware of other activity especially if speaking to operations and not ATC.

According to your profile you are in Norfolk which is LFA5 or Low Flying Area 5 (at night Norfolk is split into rotary areas to the east and south and fixed wing to the north west.
I’ve probably spoken to you as I’ve had a few “your aircraft flew dangerously low over my house” “but we don’t have anything airborne!” Conversations in my time, both military and civil. I can assure you if they say they haven’t got anything airborne they haven’t got anything airborne.
Then either they are lying, or they are accusing me of lying. BBMF are Great!
If the Lanc is overnighting/operating from Edinburgh, they usually execute a sharp right-hand turn after takeoff and this loops them right over the top of the village I live in.
you usually get a pre-warning as the Spitfire or Hurricane with them usually takes off first and does exactly the same, giving time to leg it out the house/garage and watch the Lanc lumber past at only a couple of hundred feet.
Fantastic noise and can NEVER be too loud.

One of my fondest airshow memories is being at Dunsfold while 2 Lancasters flew low overhead.
We were there too, a massive goosebump moment. We were lucky enough to see both of the Lancs at 3 different venues whilst she was over. It’ll probably never happen again. Was great to see them both together. What wasn't great was one my kids deleting the photos. Probably only half-way to forgiving them that.

I was in Abu Dhabi working on their national day celebrations a few years ago.
Their version of the Red Arrows were practising over, yes right over, the city.
My room was on the 15th floor and a couple of fighters came past below me flying between the high rises
Found a pic. One did come past lower, this is at the same height as my room.
The Chicago Air and Water show does a similar thing with the fast jets thundering below the taller buildings - quite enjoyably distracting during meetings in the practice up to the day Their version of the Red Arrows were practising over, yes right over, the city.

Here it is going near my house a couple of years ago.

It did seem to be a bit lower when it first flew over but but went higher to turn.
I admire the Ring-Necked Parakeet trying to keep up in the first video on the Portward turn!https://youtu.be/KSAbWBoNp_U

Sometimes they just fall over and die. At least they went out with the sweet sound of our Vulcan.

Not trying to derail, but initially I read "How LONG can the BBMF fly"
Is there an AD on the spar? assume engine's TBO is a known quantity?
Reminds me of the B52 which are projected to fly for 90+ years
I assume money willing if a new spar/engine is needed with sufficient money that can be achieved?

The Lancaster has already had it's spar replaced once. TBO is certainly known and so far spares including complete engines aren't a major problem. Though more and more are new build rather than left over originals. Is there an AD on the spar? assume engine's TBO is a known quantity?

There was a suggestion once that the engine blocks themselves aren't replaceable unless RR can be persuaded to let someone build brand new Merlins and Griffons.
Someone who worked on the BBMF flight was quoted some years ago as saying the ultimate constraint is going to be getting appropriate AVGAS, but that might have been when we thought oil was running out shortly.
My neighbour when I lived in darkest Cornwall has a English Electric Lightning in his garden
(he bought a job lot off the MOD when they retired, spent years fighting the FAA to let him fly them out of his hangar at Exeter, and in the end sold them to Mike at Thunder City in South Africa where they were flying until fairly recently)
The RAF, RN and USAF used the airframe with his permission as a mock target for ground attack runs. We used to get all types at all times of day, I absolutely loved it. The livestock and the pup got used to it as animals do. For example there are lovely ponies around the track at heathrow that get low passes all day. Its the random unexpected ones that get you. Doing roofing and chimney liners for a while, there were some occasions when i thought i was going to get blown off of some roof or another. Funnily enough i never minded when it was one of ours, but the Yanks used to annoy me occasionally.

Fighting the CAA, the FAA would have been 'yeah man, whatever'.(he bought a job lot off the MOD when they retired, spent years fighting the FAA to let him fly them out of his hangar at Exeter, and in the end sold them to Mike at Thunder City in South Africa where they were flying until fairly recently)

I think I need to contact MOD and complain about the lack of low flying over my house
