I don't want to detract from the thread too much, but...

A fly past at each capital would be a fine thing. Cardiff had a Royal Salute with ceremonial artillery guns, HMS Severn open to visitors and the British Military Festival of Music (with artillery accompanying). It was a great day out.

The RAF were conspicuous by their absence. A flyover from Red Arrows would have been fantastic, or even just a quick flight from a Typhoon over the bay, or even the Chinook or Para-display team...
You'll be wanting a 'float past' by the RN next! wink

They later came over our house (west of Winchester), wondered if they were going to Bournemouth, but Flight Radar showed they later turn up towards Bristol, and back to Lossiemouth/Waddington.
Lossiemouth is a fair old round trip.

Not for an airliner type aircraft it isn’t.

Maybe of interest on this thread. My father’s log book from 15 July 1953. The coronation review flypast at Odiham.
300 aircraft on the ground and another 600 in the air.
He was a fast jet instructor at the time. One month secondment for this. Leading some of the Meteors.

Surprised you didn't also post this photo of him flying VZ416 (nearest camera) during one of the rehearsals shown in his logbook, flown on July 11th.

Thank for posting that, great photo. I do have a copy in many many boxes of stuff still to be sorted.
They were based at RAF Oakington for the rehearsals.
To update. he wrote an article for Aeroplane Monthly in the 1990s. I think the photo is from that.

Nice to see the WW2 planes.
I once flew in the Canadian Lancaster on Remembrance Day.. What an impressive thing it was.

It would have been nice to see a few commercials in there too, how impressive would it have been if a BA 747, Concorde and A380 were flanked by the red arrows.

Err, given there are BA stopped flying the 747 a couple of years ago, and no Concorde has flown for 19 years, it would have been bloody impressive!!!

Concorde 002 prototype did take part in a Trooping the Colour flypast once, back in 1969, a few months after its first flight.
I think that was the only time a civilian aircraft did so.

As already said, P-8 Poseidon and a RC-135W Rivet Joint.
They were in the flypast because the intention of the flypast was to show one of each type of front line aircraft currently in service with the RAF/FAA.
It was nice interesting to see the family lineage between the RC135 and the P8.

Good that the Rivet Joint managed to join given that the RAF has I believe only three, and they are heavily used on operations sorry routine training flights near Ukraine.

Indeed, even more so given that one of the 3 is currently in the USA undergoing maintenance/refit.

No, the C-17 was sat quite a bit lower than the A400M (which is the normal ‘line astern’ formation position) so underneath the prop wash. It may have been a bit bumpy yesterday just due to the convective weather conditions.
The outer most of the first Lightning pair pit in some huge stabiliser inputs at one point. That looked like wake to me. But agree fully with above.
