I know nothing about boats - but this looks like fun!

Exactly so.
History tells us there's been numerous succesfull prosecutions of jetski users for speeding and anti-social behaviour along the Essex coast but in decades of sailing I don't recall any sailors being taken to court over their conduct whilst at sea.
Stereotypes of any kind simply wouldn't exist unless there was sufficient evidence for them to do so.

I did see a good one saturday brand new seadoo alongside the pontoon at warsash, young family next to him and looked liked he had just launched with bow facing the slipway. Decided to set off with an onshore breeze and turn the boat, obviously run aground on the slip and didn’t realise so was trying to use power, then started shuffling along trying to get it to move. I stopped watching after that.
Next thing loads of horn blowing turn around to see him 3 up booting it in the speed restricted part of the river

I'd forgotten that one... Three most useless things on a boat in no particular order are probably a Royal Navy officer, a lawnmower and a broken bottle opener.

Glad you didn’t out a pressure washer. We once won the RORC Cowes - St Malo race and when I was looking for something on the way back I opened up a lazarette to find the Karcher pressure washer hadn't been removed Three most useless things on a boat in no particular order are probably a Royal Navy officer, a lawnmower and a broken bottle opener.
