No, one crashed due to staling while making a turn, because it was a police operated example it made the news. Not really a reputation for falling out of the sky, power of the media etc....

Forgot I had these pics taken last summer at Compton Abbas:

It's an Edgley Optica as AFAIK the only one still flying. Powered by a single piston engine driving a ducted fan so it's very quiet.

It's also probably one of the strangest looking aircraft biggrin
Perhaps but one that I really like.

Dave,

Great pics. Is that a QinetiQ/DERA Alpha jet?

Cheers,

I think that's the Qinetic owned Dassault/Dornier Alpha Jet.

They have 7 or 8 of them.

Is that an all black scheme? They were carrying their old Luftwaffe camouflage.

Last week? That Herc was probably taking people to the funeral of the F-3 crew.

Sorry to go off topic but what was the result of the crash in the end? Human error or mechanical? Tragic loss none the less frown

Far too early to know at this stage. There will be a board of enquiry held to try and ascertain what happened.

One of the Royal Australia Air Force’s (RAAF) most significant fighter jets, the CA-27 Sabre, made its first flight in 16 years today at the Temora Aviation Museum in regional NSW, AUST, after a period of more than three years’ restoration and servicing.

Lovely, I do think Sabres are the most elegant fighter of that period. Such simple lines smile Almost like a P51 with a jet in the middle biggrin
