Probably won't see this one again anytime soon!
When they took the plane out of the Hudson they ended up having to detour through East Rutherford NJ. These roads were not made for planes.

Couldn't they have just stuck it on a barge and floated it up/down the river?

At least they removed the wings biggrin

Are they planning to fix it up and fly it again? Do they really need to carry out endless tests and analyses on the airframe?

They should have simply chopped it up while tethered to the docks.

They are going to make 5 ATRs out of it.

the wings look to have been removed with a disc cutter.....it will never take to the air again that's for sure

Yeah, it's been completely submerged in seawater. I can't see it taking to the air, and they would be foolish to try and put any parts from it onto other planes. Which again raises the question, why all the effort to transport it somewhere like this? Why not simply chop it up and send the pieces off to recycling centres?

They'll make a fast food restaurant from it and sell some burgers. A bit like HMS Belfast in London.

Doesn't it have to go there anyway?

Hm maybe not, I just thought that was quite standard procedure.

By international aviation law the NTSB will have to be involved.

Or they think they do. They have to check it to make sure. Plus they dont have much data on successful splash landings. Who knows what they might find which can be used in future designs.

True. I mean, if we were smart, we would not have landed it in the river in the first place. wink
