I've sailed around the Caribbean for a bit on an old wooden boat with no engine but a tiny solar panel for leccy; bought for £5000, I lived on about £10 a day and had an ace time.

How much do you spend on petrol and sandwiches a day just to spend time in your dull job?

I know where I'd prefer to be.
None, the executive expense account covers all that, (well up to £6 a day for lunch!)

What did you spend £10 a day on in the Caribbean...........was it already in rolled form!! smokin
Yeah the $10 note was rolled quite tightly, that and catching my own tuna, picking my own fruit and veg and dancing with the local girls. Nice.

Yep, borrock boats all of them.

That was moored up in Rhodes Old Town harbour last year when I was on holiday, was very nice and one of the bigger boats moored there was only a couple bigger.

Is Leander G the same yacht as Leander with the connection Brave Goose ??

And on the subject of super yachts A superb yacht was moored opposite were I was staying in Barbados last week called ' Nero' looks as if she was built in the 30's . Am told that she was recently re-named and was owned by one of the Getty's. Do you have any local knowledge ( I am not intersted in who owns her ,only some history ).

Nero is a new-build "recreation" of the classic 1890 yacht Corsair, and was completed in 2007.

The Getty yacht is Talitha (www.mytalitha.com) and was launched in 1930. She was refitted at Blohm & Voss last year and renamed from Talitha G.
Thanks for that info PW brilliant stuff! We were told that it was Talitha by a guy who spends a lot of time on the island , evidently Talitha has visited in the past and they of couse do look very similar although Nero only had one funnel . Do you know if there is anymore out there about her I have tried googling with no success. It really is a class job , she even had a classic tender tucked away in the similar position to Talitha.

My boat is owned by an individual, through a separate company and chartered out to anyone that a) can afford it, and b) we will let on board wink The owners identity is not common knowledge among the crew, and everyone has signed a strict confidentiality clause relating to any charter guests we have on board. The Russian owners take it even more seriously, the 'security' arrangements on some of the new boats make Ian Flemmings wildest dreams look conservative at best, but I guess they have their reasons.
so, what is your job on that nice yacht then?? smile

They pay an awefull lot of money for a bit of peace and quiet. Leave them be.
I agree, I wouldn't be saying that on a public forum either!

She was moored opposite where we were staying in Barbados and really does look superb. We never saw more than one person on board ( although she was moored about 150 meters away and our bino's were not strong ) however there was a massive party one night judging by the sound systym at full chat ! I also note that she was built in China !!
