Two nuclear subs collide in Atlantic

The'd run out of food first, at a guess they will send it back for a quick recrew and restock, That is if they really can't get another out to sea to replace it..

Didn't the Kursk sink because an American Sub sailed into it? (Although the yanks denied it and then when said submarine immediately went into dry dock for repair they wouldn't let the Ruskies have a look at it )
And then when the Kursk fired a torpedo the yanks thought they were firing at them so promptly sent one back which exploded in the torpedo room.
I watched a documentary on it last week, apparently it happens quite regularly.
I'd ask your Dr to alter your medication. And then when the Kursk fired a torpedo the yanks thought they were firing at them so promptly sent one back which exploded in the torpedo room.

Am I the only one thinking that this is a stupid comment to make.Have they not heard of places such as Hiroshima or Chernobyl?
Or is two metal tubes bumping around in the Atlantic worse than them?!?!
fking hell - I would rather be in a tube in the atlantic bumping into another than be in one of the two aforementioned places!!
LOL

Well, a lot of things I can tell you, a lot more I cant.
I was at sea in a nuclear submarine when the Kursk went down. Was I in the area? Who knows. Well, maybe I do but I like freedom, not jail. Say I'll say feck all about where we were or what we were doing (maybe Iwas in Bermuda getting a tan listening to the tropical fish?? Your guess.)
Did she get hit by a Yank boat? No. She didn't.
Did she have a torp cook off due to using Hydrogen Peroxide fuel (something we trialed 50 years ago, and didn't adopt for that very reason, despite the power advantages) and that took her out? Yes. stty luck, and even more stty quality control on a welded pipe.
Do I also know one of the divers who cut the front end off her with a giant bandsaw before she was taken back home? Yes, I do. No foul play or dents from other submarines were seen.
Sorry, I know we all love a good conspiricy theory, and in the submarine world, there are a LOT that have more than a nugget of truth in them. However, you loking in the wrong place as this one isn't one of them. Sorry.

Am I the only one thinking that this is a stupid comment to make.I remember the same group reporting a fire in the electrical switchyard of a nuclear power station as being a potential nuclear disaster - and the switchyard is half a mile away from the reactor and could never affect the reactor itself A similar fire at a coal powered station a couple of weeks later went completely unreported

fking hell - I would rather be in a tube in the atlantic bumping into another than be in one of the two aforementioned places!!
LOL
I have at least 10 friends who served in american subs who have been involved in collisions so its very common, or at leasst it used to be.

Another well-informed quote from the perfectly rational, objective CND:-
"The collision of two submarines, both with nuclear reactors and nuclear weapons onboard could have released vast amounts of radiation and scattered scores of nuclear warheads across the seabed," said CND chair Kate Hudson.
"The dents reportedly visible on the British sub show the boats were no more than a couple of seconds away from total catastrophe."
Kate Hudson must be very clever. Armed only with the information that there were some dents on Vanguard (which she hasn't seen), she has been able to determine that they were "no more than a couple of seconds away from total catastrophe".

You almost get the impression CND will only be happy when something does go dreadfully wrong and the entire human race is wiped out in a nuclear holocaust. Just so they can turn round in the afterlife and say "I told you so"."The collision of two submarines, both with nuclear reactors and nuclear weapons onboard could have released vast amounts of radiation and scattered scores of nuclear warheads across the seabed," said CND chair Kate Hudson.
