The Royal Navy tested it many years ago with HMS Exeter being the test ship.

The biggest carry about 260,000m3 of LNG which is the same volume as about 100 olympic swimming pools. From the draught marks its just under 23 feet (assuming the US marks in feet, 2.3m is too small and 23 m fat too large) to the underside, and will be approximately the same side to side, so just about possible for an experienced freediver without scuba.
