Here is today's pic from my US colleagues, depicting a ship this time (usually it's an aircraft, they did a ship for D-Day).

Anyway, I think this is an amazing pic.

Looks like it's about to travel back in time to 1941.

HMS Hermes returning from the Falklands, looking very battle scarred.
Only just seen this thread. My dad served on HMS Hermes. Probably around 40 years ago now I’d guess. Great pic. I’ve sent a screenshot to him. If anyone has any more of HMS Hermes I’d appreciate the posts. It will make his day to see them I’m sure.

Thanks. Rob

Do poor photos of amazingly cool ships count?

These beauties are currently moored up just down the road from me. There's a "Sail Out Parade" this afternoon so hopefully get to see some with their sails up.

El Galeon

Shtandart

Cisne Branco

US Coast Guard Cutter Eagle

I had a look around the Dutch Barque Europa yesterday and love the idea of some of the trips they do, however I'm not sure I love the idea quite enough to fork out 10k each (plus flights to Chile) for a 22 day cruise around Antarctica.

Pictures of tall ships always welcome but I'm biased...

I saw the same ships a week earlier in Rouen, when I was onboard Tenacious for a couple of days. Yes they do look better with sails up, here she is:

You can sail this one or her sister in British waters or around Norwegian fjords or Iceland for considerably less than £10K.

PM if interested.

The Royal Navy's 18" naval gun (same size as the guns of the IJN Yamato), it was previously fitted to HMS Furious until that was converted to an aircraft carrier.

Just happened to be removed and refitted onto one of it's smallest big gun warships. The monitor HMS Lord Clive. The gun turret could not be rotated, it was fixed to fire to starboard and used for shore bombardment. It did also had a fully rotating turret armed with 2x 12" guns, the same size as most battleships on either side in WWI.

frown Looks a bit similar to the Hoegh Osaka picture, where the ballast was out?

Good to see that everybody has been rescued. Bit addicted to watching the car carriers!

PCC/PCTCs do seem to have a monotonous habit of falling over through ballast fk-ups.
