Thank you. Looks like 2030 at the earliest. Interesting concepts. Not sure how much "AI" I'd want to leave navigation to, given the unpredictability of the sea!

A couple of guys in an 8m yacht sent out a distress call after thier rudder broke in the Channel, a nearby ship answered the call and turned up to tow them to France.

The crew were a little surprised to be rescued by an 18th century East Indiaman hehe

I had a look around Gotheborg when she visited nearby a few months back, beautiful ship. Based on an 18th century wreck but with a few modern touches like radar and an engine to make it safe for modern use, plus it has one fewer deck inside to get some more headroom.

A very busy Port of Felixstowe today. MSC Loreto, with OOCL Indonesia in the background.

There were a couple of these monsters in the Channel between Dover and Calais yesterday while we were on a ferry crossing. Imposing!

Meanwhile, Bass Strait is a Car Boat park. 10 to 12 of them waiting to unload cars, some waiting up to 2 weeks.

isn't the Panama Canal a bit of a car-park at the moment?

Yes, but I doubt it's affecting Melbourne too much!

Going

Going ….

Gone

I was helming, had the traveler a bit too far in for the conditions. Put a couple of cuts in my elbow, my Swiss crew was totally unharmed.
