very subjective report there smile

Respect to the Man .. No one was hurt, the aircraft landed without incident ... whats that about any landing you walk away from being a good one ...

Just wish I was there to see it

Just heard about this the other day and have only just seen the video! eek! Proper brown trouser moment for the 2 pilots!
The 70 year retired wing commander who last flew this plane 29 years ago did an amazing job keeping it under control! proper true grit!
Great story and a proper 'respect to the old boy!

The bbc clip looks the most dramatic! yikes!

I think I'll have to give old drivers a bit more respect after seeing that. I have to say I'm impressed that he managed to gather it all together so quickly biggrin

Bob is the regular 'pilot' of it and does all the fast taxi runs with the Victor.

Kin right, that old chap had to make a few very quick and important decisions there, realising his throttle man had frozen, deciding if he could shut em down/take off and go around/land all within the blink of an eye, impressive stuff

Yes it was a good recovery, but he should not have put the aircraft in that position in the first place- something which the news seems happy to forget

How was he to anticipate his throttleman freezing? a man who had been trained? The human element will always throw a spanner in the works and the fact his training was able to compensate shows the professionalism of the team IMO
