Went for my microlight flight this morning. fk me, it was good, if a little nerve-wracking.

Went in one of these:

Takes off at about 35mph but when your arse is four inches off the ground it seemed faster than my old TVR! Felt a bit like a flying Caterham 7.

No instruments, wind in the face, buffeted by the slightest wind gusts.

Incredibly sensitive on the rudder, but hardly used ailerons to turn.

Some interesting aircraft in the club's hangars including a microlight replica of a Fiesler Storch, a couple of brand-new autogyros, several amphibious microlights and one with twin engines!

It will cost $3,500 dollars for a course - does that sound about right?

Most accident reports are obviously not funny.

But this one made me smile:

Accident occurred APR-22-95 at ORLANDO, FL
Aircraft: FABRE SEARAY BOMBADIER, registration: N773G
Injuries: 1 Uninjured.

THE PILOT WAS TAXIING AFTER LANDING AND NOTED AN ALLIGATOR TO HIS LEFT. HE STATED HE ABRUPTLY APPLIED AILERON FLIGHT CONTROL INPUT AND THE RIGHT WING COLLIDED WITH THE WATER, AND THE AIRPLANE SANK.
Probable Cause
THE ABRUPT USE OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS,BY THE PILOT-IN-COMMAND WHILE TAXIING ON WATER THAT RESULTED IN THE AIRPLANE CAPSIZING.
